1、Grammar 3—— Past participle phrases as adverbial.

The past participle means complete or passive. When doing adverbial, it means the background or situation where the action takes place. In the sense, it is equivalent to an adverbial clause. Its omitted subject (logical subject) is the subject of the main sentence and has a passive relationship with the subject. Past participles as adverbials can represent time, conditions, methods, reasons, concessions, etc. The negative form of past participles is to put "not" in front of it.

2、First, when the past participle is used as a time adverbial, it is equivalent to a time adverbial clause.

例:Seen from the moon , the earth looks green .

3、Second, when the past participle was used as the cause adverbial, it was equivalent to a cause adverbial clause led by the words "as, since, cause" and so on.

例:Deeply moved by the movie , the children began to cry .

4、Third, when the past participle is used as a conditional adverbial, it is usually placed in front of the sentence, which is equivalent to the conditional adverbial clause guided by "if, unless".    

例:Compared with you , we still have a long way to go .

5、Fourth, when the past participle was used as an adverbial of concession, it was equivalent to an adverbial clause of concession guided by "though, although".

例:Invited by him , I won't take part in the party .

6、Fifth, the past participles are used as adverbial lists or accompanying adverbials.

例:She walked out of the house , followed by her little daughter .
